Intro to Blues Dancing

Blues Dancing began in the early 19th century with the rise of blues of music. Known for its grounded movement, improvisation, and close partnership, Blues Dancing is the dance for dancers. This class will introduce you to the history and basic rhythms of blues dancing. We will focus on partner dancing, with an emphasis on the social aspects of the dance. By the end of the four week course you will be able to execute blue’s rhythmic steps, and dance with a partner. All levels are welcome and no dance experience or partner is required.

Intro to Swing Dancing

Since its earliest beginnings in 1920s Harlem, swing has been a popular social dance known for its energetic movement and upbeat tempos. This class will introduce you to the history and basic movements of swing dance. We will focus on partner dancing, with an emphasis on the social aspects of the dance. By the end of the four week course you will be able to identify swing music, execute swing’s rhythmic steps, and dance with a partner. All levels are welcome and no dance experience or partner is required.

Intro to sALSA Dancing

Known for its energetic and sensual movements, salsa is one of the most popular dances in the world. This class will introduce you to the history and basic movements of salsa dance. We will focus on partner dancing, with an emphasis on the social aspects of the dance. By the end of the four week course you will be able to recognize the rhythms of salsa music, execute salsa’s basic steps, and dance with a partner. All levels are welcome and no dance experience or partner is required.

About

As a lifelong dancer, some of my experience includes 15+ years of ballet and jazz, 20 years of social dancing, yoga teaching certification, Zumba instruction license, Applied Stretching Theory and Practice certificate, 3 years of burlesque, 1 year of belly dancing, 5+ years of powerlifting, and 2 years of distance running.
